“Duel” (original name “Dvoboj”) is the story of Leposava Mijušković, a hugely talented but forgotten female writer. Back at the beginning of the 20th century, Leposava was the first young female author to focus on lesbian prose. Evidence that was later discovered indicates that Leposava lost her life in a duel with a long-term friend, Ljubica. However, these bibliographical points are only the starting point of our story. As part of this film, we will tell not only the bibliography of Leposava’s life. Instead, we will celebrate her spirit as well as the spirit of others like her, telling the story of one’s fight for freedom and the right to live outside the confines of a framework that our society decides.
